John is responsible for guiding Westchester's inves tment policy and is directly involved in communicating with clients. John is Chairman of the Investment and Portfolio Management Committees. He is responsible for selecting equity and fixed income investments and the management of client portfolios.
Before founding Westchester Capital Management in 1986, John received his B.A. in Architecture from Iowa State University (1973). Upon graduation, he was hired as a design architect by a national architectural engineer firm. In 1975, he entered the securities industry by joining a regional investment-banking firm as a securities broker. John later served as a First Vice President and portfolio manager. John is a member of The CFA Society of Nebraska and has completed programs provided by the Securities Industry Institute and the Wharton School of Business.
John has served on numerous community foundations and boards. In 1989, he was elected to the Iowa State University Foundation Board of Governors. Since 1989, John has served several terms on both the Finance and Development Committees of the Iowa State University Foundation. He was recently elected to a second term on the Foundation’s Investment Committee. In addition, John served as past President of the Iowa State University's College of Design Design Council .
